Dr. Spagnola will be speaking on the topic of Emotional Intelligence (EI). EI is the ability to manage both your own emotions and understand the emotions of people around you. It is considered the secret weapon for business success. If you aspire to be a leader in business, EI is an element you must consider because it is what helps you successfully coach teams, manage stress, deliver feedback, and collaborate with others. There are four pillars of emotional intelligence, and the good news is you can always get better at it with practice.

This session will provide an overview of the following topics:

-           Stress management

-           Feedback delivery

-           Collaboration

Speaker Bio

Dr. Bob Spagnola is a Professor and Academic Program Director for the Master of Science in Organizational Leadership program in the Anderson College of Business and Computing at Regis University in Denver, Colorado where he has been a faculty member for 15 years. He worked as Supervisor of U.S. Tax Planning for Johns-Manville Corporation and Vice President of Corporate Finance at First Interstate Bank of Denver now Wells Fargo. Dr. Spagnola has been active as a leader in education from K-12 to university administration. His current research interests focus on sustainability, leadership, and strategic management. He received his B.A. and J.D. from Creighton University, his LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Denver, his Ph.D. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Strategic Management from the University of Nebraska and his ED.M. in Leadership in Educational Policy from Harvard University. He is the author of a number of journal articles and conference proceedings. Dr. Spagnola resides in Denver where he is an avid golfer and motorcyclist.

Dinner is available at the Regis cafeteria with various options for those who would like.  Otherwise, there is no cost to attend the meeting and earn 1 CPE credit.
